Confirmation Service Projects
October–December 2026
As part of our Confirmation preparation, students will have the opportunity to put their faith into
action through a series of service experiences throughout the year. Each project is designed to help
students recognize the dignity of every person, respond to the needs of our community, and
discover the ways God is calling them to use their gifts in service of others.
Before each service experience, we will spend time connecting the work we are about to do with
our Catholic faith. Together, we will reflect on Jesus’ teachings about serving others, the dignity of
every human person, the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, the lives of saints who devoted
themselves to serving others, and the unique gifts and talents God has given each of us.
Following each service experience, students will have an opportunity for prayer and reflection. They
will be invited to consider questions such as: Where did I see Christ? What surprised me? How did
serving others make me feel? What was challenging? What did I learn about myself or others? How
might God be calling me to continue serving?

Our Service
Students will participate in a second harvest, also known as gleaning, by gathering fruits and
vegetables that remain in the fields after the primary harvest. The produce collected will help
address the shortage of fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate food available through local food
pantries.
The produce harvested by our students will be collected and delivered by Second Harvest personnel
to the Lynn Food Pantry, where it will be distributed to individuals and families in need.
Faith Connection
This experience gives students the opportunity to consider how something as simple as gathering
food can become an act of love and mercy. We will reflect on Jesus’ call to care for those who are
hungry and on our responsibility as Christians to recognize the dignity of every person and help
meet the needs of our neighbors.
November — Thanksgiving Distributors
Location: Yawkey Center Food Pantry
185 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA
Date: November 21, 2026
Time: Tentatively 8A.M. -11A.M.
Transportation: Will be provided through the parish.
Our Service
Students will assist pantry staff in distributing Thanksgiving food bags to individuals and families
experiencing food insecurity. Through this hands-on experience, students will have the opportunity
to contribute to the important work of making sure members of our community have access to food
and basic necessities.
Faith Connection
This project connects directly to the Corporal Works of Mercy, particularly the call to feed the
hungry. Students will reflect on what it means to serve others with compassion and without
judgment, remembering that every person we encounter is made in the image and likeness of God.
December — Missionaries of Charity
Location: Missionaries of Charity
401 Quincy Street, Boston, MA
Date: December 2026
Time: TBD
Transportation: Will be provided by the parish.
Our Service
During the weeks leading up to this service experience, students will invite family members, friends,
and fellow parishioners to participate by donating grocery gift cards, hats, mittens, scarves, gloves,
and socks. Students will then help organize the donations and prepare them for delivery.
Students will have the opportunity to bring the collected donations through organized
transportation to the Missionaries of Charity and personally help deliver these items to families in
need.
*Please note that this service project is mandatory for Confirmation 2 students.
Faith Connection
The Christmas season reminds us of Christ’s call to see Him in those who are most vulnerable.
Through this project, students will reflect on the meaning of generosity and giving, and on how we
can share the blessings God has given us with others. We will also learn from the example of the
Missionaries of Charity, who dedicate their lives to serving the poor and vulnerable with love and
compassion.
