Few families today have not suffered from the forces of violence, addiction, injustice, inequality and hate in our culture which can appear overwhelming. We all, from time to time, share feelings of fear, doubt, and insecurity as we read the daily headlines.
The Christ Initiative is a faith community where I can bring these feelings; I need not stand alone. It is not that the parish packaged or promoted itself to me in an effective way. what draws me to this family of believers is, rather, an attraction to Christ's message of love, peace, justice, grace, and mercy.
The unconditional love of Jesus is expressed in our worship. Eucharist is enhanced by dedicated music ministers who provide varying styles to edify us. Thoughtful and dynamic homilies are preached that provide us with a fuller understanding of Sacred Scripture and its relevance to today. The word of God is made known to our children through Pathfinders ministry. Adults at various stages of spiritual journey are exploring the Christian faith in Alpha groups. Catholic social teaching is lived through a Peace and Justice Ministry. At each Mass, we declare that we are more than a random collection of people. The Christ Initiative's response to troubling cultural trends is far from random. My spiritual home has a clearly defined mission and a game plan to implement it all dedicated to glorifying God with our lives.
